
Project Title: "DIY Election Day Posters"
Objective: The objective of this project is to engage students in a fun craft activity that promotes civic awareness and encourages them to express their support for the democratic process.
Materials Needed:
Poster Board (Split in half)
Colored markers, colored pencils, or crayons
Stickers, glitter, and other decorative materials (optional)
Printouts of election-themed images or slogans (optional)
Glue (if using decorative materials)
Steps:
1. Design Planning
Start by discussing the significance of Election Day and the importance of participating in the democratic process. (Check out our Blog post in the Education Corner .)
Encourage students to brainstorm and sketch their designs for election-themed posters.
2. Creating the Posters
Provide each student with a blank piece of poster board and art supplies.
Students should use a pencil to sketch their designs on the poster board.
Students can use markers, colored pencils, or crayons to draw and color their designs on the poster board.
They can also use stickers, glitter, or other decorative materials to add extra flair (optional).
3. Adding Images or Slogans (optional)
Provide printouts of election-themed images or slogans for students to cut out and glue onto their poster board.
Assessment:
Creativity and originality in the poster design
Understanding of the significance of Election Day through discussions or reflective essays
